W.E. Cox Claims Group is delighted to announce that with effect from the 1st January 2016, it will be expanding its services to Australasia and the Pacific, creating a regional hub in Australia.

The expansion will see the creation of W.E. Cox (Australasia) Pty Ltd, operating strategically with offices in Sydney and Melbourne.

To ensure the success of this new venture, W.E. Cox Claims Group has appointed Mr Robert Hammersley as Managing Director of W.E. Cox (Australasia) Pty Ltd. Robert is well known in the Australian market, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Robert will principally be based in Sydney, and will be assisted in the operation of the Melbourne office by Krishnan Nair.

With offices located in Europe, USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and now Australia, the genuine global coverage of W.E. Cox Claims Group is demonstrated and highlights why the Group is considered a leading provider of Maritime and Transportation claim solutions. W.E. Cox (Australasia) Pty Ltd will provide the full spectrum of the Group's services including Cargo Claims Management, Defence Liability, Surveys, Casualty Services, Recovery/Subrogation and Risk Management.

Robert Hammersley

Robert Hammersley is an Associate of the CII, Senior Associate of ANZIIF and has a Bsc (Tech) Honours in Maritime Studies. Robert has held various senior management positions in both claims and underwriting within the London and Australian markets spanning almost 30 years. Positions held in the Australian market include General Manager-Marine Specialty Risks for QBE Insurance, National Marine Manager for Lumley General Insurance, Managing Director (Joint) of Thomas Miller (Australasia) and Manager-Hull & Liability Claims for Associated Marine Insurers. Robert has a strong technical background with specialist skills in the areas of logistics, hull, liability and claims, including 6 years’ working as an Average Adjuster in the London market.

Krishnan Nair

Krishnan has been in control of our Malaysian office since he joined the W.E. Cox Claims Group in 1996. He has provided an invaluable service to the Malaysian market, acting as a liaison between the local Insurers and the Cox offices. He has pursued and successfully negotiated settlements with opponents in a tough environment and as a qualified Lawyer, he is able to counter many arguments put forward by opponents. He is also able to provide to our Principals opinions and views on cases that require legal action. Krishnan will continue to work closely with the Malaysian market whilst undertaking his new role of Manager in Melbourne, Australia.
