THERESA ARCTIC

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “THERESA ARCTIC”, a Tuvalu flag, 1988 built 43,414gt combined chemical and oil tanker.

It is reported that the Vessel ran aground approximately 55 nautical miles from Mombasa, Kenya, and was unable to refloat using her own power. Salvage operations have been commenced with Smit Salvage and Alpha Logistics.

It is understood that lightering operations will be required to refloat the vessel, which was en route from Indonesia and Malaysia to Kenya with a cargo of 27,500 tonnes of vegetable oil on board.
