We have learned of an incident involving the vessel TAO MARINER, a Panama flag, 2010 built, 15,243gt bulk carrier. The vessel is entered with Assuranceforeningen Skuld in Hong Kong. The Member is listed as Wisdom Marine Lines S.A. based in Taiwan. The Registered Owner, Tao Mariner S. A., is also based in Taiwan.

TAO MARINER was reported aground 68.85 nautical miles from Oro Bay, Papua New Guinea yesterday having set sail from Fuzhou, Peoples’ Republic of China on 2 September 2015. Unconfirmed reports have suggested that the vessel experienced trouble on 20 October 2015 however we have only received confirmation of the grounding Wednesday 28 October 2015 at 1457 hrs.

The cargo is unknown.

We are in contact with the case handler at the Club and we are awaiting their further update regarding the situation. It is possible that shipowners may declare General Average and seek salvage assistance.
