New Casualty – YOUNG YONG – Grounding

New Casualty - YOUNG YONG - Grounding

Incident Date:    26th October 2022

Vessel:                YOUNG YONG

IMO No.              9194127

Type:                   Crude Oil Tanker

Incident:             Grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel YOUNG YONG, a Djibouti flag, 153,911gt, 2001 built, crude oil tanker, which ran aground in the Singapore Straits on the evening of 26th October 2022.

The crude oil tanker is loaded with 284,429 crude oil and was proceeding from Singapore anchorage towards Indonesia when she ran aground.  It is understood that the crude oil was loaded in China and destined for Mozambique.

It is understood that the location of the grounding is close to an underwater gas pipeline and as such professional Salvors have been engaged to assess the damage to the Vessel and seabed prior to making attempts to re-float the vessel. As such it is highly likely that cargo owners will be required to provide Salvage Security prior to delivery in Mozambique.
