New Casualty - XIN YUAN LONG 6 - Collision

Incident Date:    17th July 2023

Vessel:                XIN YUAN LONG 6

IMO No.             8597293

Type:                  Containership

Incident:            Collision

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel XIN YUAN LONG 6, a Chinese Flag, containership, which collided with an unnamed vessel in the mouth of the Yongjiang River in the Beilun district of Ningbo City. The accident caused the hull of the 2021-built containership to tilt due to water ingress and more than 40 containers fell into the water. All personnel onboard have been safely evacuated. The vessel has been reportedly partially sunk after the collision.

The container vessel with a capacity of 922teu had previously called at Huangpu and Xiamen in China. As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners might be required to provide securities before delivery of cargo.
