New Casualty - RAGNA - Grounding

Incident Date:    27th October 2022

Vessel:                RAGNA

IMO No.              9173329

Type:                   Fully Cellular Containership

Incident:             Grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel RAGNA, a German flag, 3,999gt, 1998 built, fully cellular containership, which ran aground in the Little Belt after leaving Frederica, Denmark late at night on the 27th October 2022.

The fully cellular container vessel with a capacity of 508teu was en-route to Bremerhaven when she ran aground. Reports suggest that the Captain has been arrested and charged with being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the grounding.

Professional Salvors have been contracted and divers are undertaking hull surveys before re-floating attempts are made.

As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners will be required to provide Salvage Security before delivery of cargo.
