New Casualty - MONTE PASCOAL - Grounding

Incident Date:    7th January 2023

Vessel:                MONTE PASCOAL

IMO No.              9283203

Type:                   Fully Cellular Containership

Incident:             Grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MONTE PASCOAL, a Singapore flag, 71,746gt, 2005 built, fully cellular containership, which ran aground whilst approaching Cartagena, Columbia, 7th January 2023.

The fully cellular container vessel with a capacity of 4,000teu is owned by the AP Moller Group and operated by Hamburg Sud on a liner service between Brazil and the USA. Having called at Rio de Janeiro it would appear that she strayed off the fairway before running aground.

It is understood that tugs are on scene and that Professional Salvors may be required before re-floating attempts are made.

As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners will be required to provide Salvage Security before delivery of cargo.
