New Casualty - INDIAN PARTNERSHIP - Aground & water ingress

Incident Date:    22nd April 2023

Vessel:                Indian Partnership

IMO No.              9521409

Type:                   Bulk Carrier

Incident:             Grounding & Water Ingress

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel INDIAN PARTNERSHIP, a UK-flag, 95009 gt, 2014 built, bulk carrier, which reportedly hit a reef on the 22nd of April in Ceram Sea off Misool, Indonesia.

After hitting the reef, the vessel proceeded under its own power to shallow water near Misool Island, Indonesia where she was grounded and remains partially submerged. Water ingress appears to be contained to the ballast tank however, divers are understood to be assessing the extent of any damage. The mixed nationality crew of 22 are all safe and unharmed.

The bulk carrier is operated by Zodiac Maritime and had previously called at Rizhao, China. As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery as well as potential cargo damages. With professional Salvors likely to be needed to refloat the vessel, cargo owners might be required to provide securities before delivery of cargo.
