NEW CASUALTY – GLOVIS CAPTAIN

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel GLOVIS CAPTAIN, a Marshall Islands flag, 2015 built, 59,760 gt vehicle carrier.

It is reported that GLOVIS CAPTAIN lost some of its lashings during a storm in the English Channel, resulting in a shift and damage to its cargo of cars and industrial vehicles. According to local sources, a significant number of badly damaged high and heavy vehicles are being unloaded from the vessel at the port of Southampton. A forklift has been reportedly deployed to remove some of these.

The vessel has also sustained some minor damage to its hull although the vessel and crew are safe. There is no pollution and the ship is it unlikely to require dry docking.
