We have learned of an incident involving the FREMANTLE HIGHWAY, a Panamanian flag, 59525 gt, 2013 built, car carrier which caught fire on the 26th of July 2023 in the North Sea about 30 kilometres north of Ameland.

The vessel with capacity of 6,220 cars was carrying circa 3,000 cars at the material time. At least one crew member died and several others were injured. Rescue helicopters and boats evacuated 23 crew members from the vessel. The vessel was sailing from Bremerhaven, Germany to Port Said, Egypt. The vessel is managed by Shoei Kisen Kaisha Ltd and called at Livorno, Portbury and Zeebrugge before sailing to Bremerhaven.

As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners might be required to provide securities before delivery of cargo.
