New Casualty - Dyros - Loss of Containers

CASUALTY NOTICE

 

Incident Date:    23rd March 2022

Vessel:                DYROS

IMO:                    9380403

Type:                   Fully cellular containership

Incident:             Loss of Containers

 

We have learned of an incident involving the Vessel DYROS, a Liberia flagged, 2008 built, 40,165gt fully cellular containership.

The 4,506teu vessel which serves the TP7 loop from Asia to the West Coast of the USA reported collapse of stow and loss of at least 90 containers overboard in the North Pacific 23rd March 2022.

We understand that at least 100 other containers have been damaged in the incident and that the Vessel will now head to the Port of Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico where the extent of the damage to Vessel and cargo will be assessed when she arrives 3rd April 2022.

Previous incidents of this nature have given rise to significant damage and delays and there is the possibility that professional Salvors may be required or that General Average may be declared, in addition to any cargo losses. In this regard W.E. Cox have retained surveyors to attend in Mexico.
