New Casualty – ABDULLAH – Piracy

New Casualty - ABDULLAH - Piracy

Incident Date:    12th March 2024

Vessel:                ABDULLAH

IMO No.             9745598

Type:                  Bulk Carrier

Incident:           Piracy

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel ABDULLAH, a Bangladesh flag, 32714 gt, 2015 built, bulk carrier which was attacked by a group of suspected Somali pirates. The vessel was approximately 500 nautical miles east of Mogadishu, Somalia in an area the shipping company said was ranked as low risk. However, the pirates possibly affiliated with the Houthi in Yemen are believed to be expanding the region of operations.

The bulk carrier is operated by Brave Royal Management and was sailing from Mozambique to the UAE at the time of the attack. The vessel had previously called in India. As a result of this incident it is highly likely that there will be delays to cargo delivery and cargo owners might be required to provide securities before delivery of cargo.
