HOEGH OSAKA

We have learned of a new incident involving the vessel HOEGH OSAKA a 2000 built 51,770gt Vehicle Carrier, which has run aground off East Cowes in the Solent, off South Coast UK last night.

Lifeboats from Isle of Wight, Yarmouth and Calshot, as well as tugs from Southampton and coastguard helicopter are in attendance to evacuate the crew.

The vessel is on a voyage from Southampton, UK to Germany.

Efforts to refloat the vessel are underway on the next high tide

The nature and scope of salvage services have yet to be determined, and whether security is ultimately required or General Average may be declared is unknown.
