We have learned of an incident involving the vessel CMA CGM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, a Malta flag, 179922 gt, 2015 built, fully cellular containership which reportedly lost 44 containers at sea off the coast of South Africa while another 30 containers are reportedly damaged.

The vessel allegedly faced bad weather on Tuesday 9 July during a voyage from Asia to Europe. No injury to the crew has been reported, no pollution and no strong damage to the vessel. CMA CGM notified the authorities and will proceed to Cape Town for making an assessment of the situation and taking necessary measures to ensure a safe prosecution of the ocean voyage.
