CASUALTY UPDATE – ZIM KINGSTON – LOSS OF CONTAINERS & FIRE – GA DECLARED

Type:                   Fully cellular containership

Incident:             Loss of Containers & Fire – GA Declared

Further to our previous advice in relation to the loss of containers and fire on board the 2008 built, 40,030gt fully cellular containership ZIM KINGSTON it has been confirmed that Vessel Owners have declared General Average.

Vessel Owners have appointed Albatross Adjusters and cargo owners will be required to provide General Average Guarantees before sound cargoes are released.

W.E. Cox have been appointed on behalf of a number of cargo interests and can assist in the provision of suitable security to ensure release of sound cargoes.

It has further been confirmed that at least 109 containers have been lost as a result of this incident and W.E. Cox have been appointed on behalf of a number of cargo interests to pursue recovery / subrogation.

The 4,253TEU Vessel remains at anchorage and W.E. Cox have experts retained to ensure that investigations into cause and extent of damage are undertaken at the earliest opportunity.
