CASUALTY NOTICE – MAERSK EINDHOVEN
We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MAERSK EINDHOVEN, a Denmark flag, 2010 built, 141,716gt, fully cellular containership, which encountered severe weather conditions in the Pacific Ocean, en route from Xiamen to Los Angeles, resulting in a significant number of containers being lost overboard and It is anticipated that numerous containers remaining onboard will also have been affected. There are also unconfirmed reports of an engine failure at the time of the incident.
The vessel has changed course and is now returning to seek a port of refuge in Asia, where we will be able to have surveyors on hand to inspect cargo on discharge.
It is unclear at this stage whether this incident will give rise to General Average or whether General Average will be declared.
