Further to our initial notice concerning explosion/fire onboard containership GRANDE BRASILE, we have been advised that the fire has reignited, resulting in the crew abandoning the GRANDE BRASILE and salvors (Messrs SMIT Salvage BV) being appointed to provide assistance on LOF terms. In this regard, cargo interests will be required to provide Salvage security before cargo will be delivered

We have been advised that General Average has been declared and that Richards Hogg Lindley have been appointed as the average adjusters

W.E. Cox have learnt of an incident involving the GRANDE BRASILE, a Maltese flag vessel, 56,660GT, 1,302TEU fully cellular containership. The GRANDE BRASILE was sailing from Antwerpen, Belgium enroute to Le Havre, France when she suffered an explosion and/or fire whilst transiting the Dover Strait, about 15nm of Ramsgate, UK on 18th February 2025

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MSC BALTIC III, a Liberia flag, 25,407gt, 2003 built, fully cellular containership, which suffered a power loss and ran aground off the coast of Cedar Cove, Newfoundland 15th February 2025

We have been advised that salvors (Messrs SMIT Salvage BV) have been engaged to provide assistance to the vessel on LOF terms. SMIT have confirmed that the vessel has been refloated and is now heading to anchorage. Cargo interests will be required to provide Salvage security before cargo will be delivered

The ASL BAUHINIA was enroute from Jebel Ali towards the Suez Canal when she suffered an explosion and/or fire involving hazardous cargo about 12nm of Hodeidah, Yemen in the southern Red Sea on 27th January 2025

W.E. Cox have learnt of an incident involving the MANASOTA, a Liberian flag vessel, 88426GT bulk carrier which suffered a fire in her engine room near Mauritius on 15th January 2025 whilst enroute from Cape Town, South Africa to Singapore

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel YM UNICORN, a China flag, 91,586gt, 2013 built, fully cellular containership, which ran aground just before midnight 11th December 2024 in front of the Keelung Lighthouse when arriving at Keelung, Taiwan.
