Incident: Containers overboard
We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “MAERSK ESSEN”, a 2010 built 141,716gt Fully Cellular Containership which reported losing some 750 containers overboard in the Pacific on 16th January 2021.
It is understood that the Vessel has a capacity of 13,100 TEU and was carrying containers between Asia and the USA when an estimated 750 containers were lost overboard in the Pacific. It is anticipated that significant further damages will have occurred, and it is understood that the Vessel is scheduled to arrive Los Angeles in the coming days where the extent of the damages will be assessed.
W.E. Cox Claims Group are actively investigating this matter and have our surveyors, CWH Johnsons International, on standby to attend at Los Angeles.
