CASUALTY UPDATE#1 – MAERSK EINDHOVEN
Type: Further to our initial notice of 18th February, it is reported that MAERSK EINDHOVEN is awaiting clearance from Japanese authorities for entry into APM Terminals Yokohama, Japan container terminal, currently expected to proceed on/about 25th February and likely to berth on/about 1st March. Maersk surveyors have been onboard with salvors, inspecting the vessel and reviewing safety conditions. It is reported that damage to Vessel is very limited, so declaration of General Average seems very unlikely. Maersk anticipate being able to share more details in the coming days. Current indications are that the vessel will resume normal TP6 service once repairs are completed. Meanwhile, it has been established that 260 containers were lost, with a further 65 confirmed damaged onboard. We are pleased to confirm that W E Cox Claims Group has received instructions from insurers of part cargo to represent their interests in this case, so will have surveyors in attendance, and are already making contact with relevant parties and taking steps to protect rights of recovery for any losses incurred.
