General Average - SOUTHERN PUMA collision with LOUISA BOLTEN

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel SOUTHERN PUMA, a Liberia Flag, 2016 built product tanker, which collided with the vessel LOUISA BOLTEN, a Marshall Islands Flag, 2009 built bulk carrier near the Straights of Gibraltar 1st November 2024.

SOUTHERN PUMA, which was en-route from Europe to Brazil, has suffered considerable damage on the starboard side including a hull breach below the waterline. It is reported that cargo has been lost as a result of the incident.

SOUTHERN PUMA has now been escorted to Algeciras where all cargo will be removed to enable repairs. Owners of the SOUTHERN PUMA have declared General Average and appointed RHL as GA Adjusters. Cargo Owners will be required to provide suitable GA Security prior to cargoes being released. W.E. Cox are instructed on behalf of a number of cargo interests and are assisting in investigating the circumstances, extent of loss and providing Guarantees. 

LOUISA BOLTEN, which was en-route from the UK to Turkey has continued her voyage and will be assessed further in Turkey.
