W.E. Cox have been appointed by cargo interests in relation to an incident involving the vessel X-PRESS PYXIS, a Singapore Flag fully cellular containership, which reported a failure of its stern tube system whilst transiting from Busan, South Korea to Yokohama, Japan 29th August 2024.

The 272metre container vessel was only delivered in 2024 and has a capacity of 7,092teu. She is operated by X-Press Feeders and had previously called at Chinese Ports, providing a feeder service on behalf of numerous Shipping Lines. We understand that most cargoes were destined for Japan, Canada and the USA.

It is understood that the Vessel started drifting off Northeast Japan, could not complete her voyage and was towed to Yokohama where investigation revealed damage to both the stern tube and propellor. She will be taken to dry dock for repair and all containerised cargo will be discharged at Yokohama.

Vessel Owners have declared General Average and appointed MCO in Singapore as Adjusters. All cargo interests will be required to provide General Average Security prior to cargo being released at destination.
