Incident: Loss of Containers
We have learned of an incident involving the Vessel MADRID BRIDGE, a Japanese flagged, 2018 built, 152,068gt fully cellular containership.
The 14,000teu vessel which serves the EC4 loop from Asia to the East Coast of the USA reported being adrift between 2nd and 7th January 2022 with a loss of at least 30 containers overboard.
We understand that the vessel is continuing her voyage to New York at a reduced speed, with an anticipated arrival date of 20th January 2022, where she will be assessed for damage to both vessel and cargo.
Previous incidents of this nature have given rise to significant damage and delays and there is the possibility that professional Salvors may be required or that General Average may be declared, in addition to any cargo losses. In this regard W.E. Cox have retained surveyors to attend in New York.
