CASUALTY NOTICE – X-PRESS MONTE BIANCO

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel X-PRESS MONTE BIANCO, a Malta flag, 2003 built, 6,434gt fully cellular containership, operating between ports around the Iberian Peninsular and Morocco but potentially carrying transhipment cargoes originating from or destined for other ports of origin or destination worldwide.

The vessel was en route from Valencia to Barcelona, when a fire broke out in the engine room, off the coast of Tarragona. Firefighters arrived by helicopter and boat to find that the fire had been controlled by the crew. However, there were still very high temperatures with a lot of smoke, and the firefighters assisted in stabilising the situation.
