Further to our recent advice of the collision between the vessels NORTHERN JASPER and SAFMARINE MERU, we can now confirm that owners of SAFMARINE MERU have declared General Average and W.E. Cox Claims Group have received instructions in respect of part cargo onboard.

Zhejiang Maritime Search and Rescue Centre dispatched fire-fighting tugs and the fire was successfully extinguished. However, it is reported that laden containers in and on deck close to the ER have suffered damage from fire / smoke / extinguishing water.

The vessel was towed to Ningbo, arriving alongside on 13th May.
