We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MAGELLAN SPIRIT, a Denmark flag, 2009 built, 104,169gt liquid natural gas carrier, on a voyage from Bonny, Nigeria to Gwangyang, Republic of Korea.

It is reported that MAGELLAN SPIRIT ran aground about 6 nautical miles out of Bonny. Salvage operations were undertaken by Smit Salvage BV under Lloyd’s Open Form signed on 13th January and the vessel was refloated on 22nd January 2015, following ship-to-ship lightering.
