NEW CASUALTY – VEGA ALPHA

Type: We have learned of an incident involving the vessel VEGA ALPHA, a Liberia flag, 8,971gt, 2005 built fully cellular containership, which suffered a main engine explosion whilst on a laden voyage from Laem Chabang to Kaohsiung, leaving the vessel disabled off the coast of South Vietnam. VEGA ALPHA sustained major main engine damage and is being towed to the Singapore / Batam area for extensive repairs. General Average has been declared and Schlimme & Partner GmbH, Hamburg, in association with Rogers Wilkin Ahern LLP, London, are appointed as GA Adjusters.
