NEW CASUALTY - SAGA MORUS
We have learned of an incident involving the vessel SAGA MORUS, a Hong Kong flag, 1997 built, 36,463gt, general cargo ship with container capacity, which ran aground during her outward passage from Portocel whilst under tow by port tugs. The vessel was refloated the next day, assisted by six tugs, and proceeded to a safe anchorage for inspection and assessment of damage. Temporary repairs were completed, and on 26th January, SAGA MORUS was given clearance to continue to ports of discharge.
General Average has been declared and Richards Hogg Lindley appointed as GA Adjusters. Satisfactory GA security will therefore be required for cargo to be released at destination.W E Cox Claims Group have received instructions to represent the interests of part cargo onboard.
