MOL PRESTIGE

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “MOL PRESTIGE”, a 2006 built 71,902gt fully cellular containership.

It is understood that the Vessel is adrift approximately 207 nautical miles off the Canadian coast following an engine room fire that resulted in injury to crew members and loss of power. It is understood that Vessel owners have contracted with Salvors in order to have the Vessel returned to Port. It is unclear at this stage the extent of the damage to the Vessel or whether Salvage/General Average will be declared.

The Vessel had previously called at the USA and was scheduled to sail to Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
