Casualty notice - THEA II - Grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “THEA II”, a 1995 built 2,899gt fully cellular container ship. The vessel operates on a liner route between Hull, UK and Amsterdam, NED only.

It is reported that the vessel experienced a blackout on 15th December therefore dragging anchor running aground at the entrance to the Humber. After a calamitous effort she was refloated 16th December and is in tow to Hull for assessment. Despite the size of the vessel and only having 84 containers on board the salvage will be handled under Lloyd’s Open Form.
