Casualty Notice – Lotus – FIRE

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel LOTUS, a Panama flag, 2001 built, 28,097gt bulk carrier with container capacity on 17th January 2019, when fire broke out in Hold 2 during loading at Shanghai. The fire brigade boarded to extinguish the fire and the vessel set sail on 20th January. LOTUS had previously called at Tianjin and is carrying cargo bound for Tema, Luanda and Durban.

GA has been declared and W E Cox Claims Group has received instructions to represent the interests of part cargo onboard.
