CASUALTY NOTICE - MAERSK LAVRAS

Vessel: MAERSK LAVRAS (IMO 9526928)

Type: Fully cellular containership

Incident: Fire

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel MAERSK LAVRAS, a Hong Kong flag, 2011 built, 88,237gt fully cellular containership, when a gantry crane caught fire during cargo operation at the Port of Buenos Aires, having previously called at Brazilian ports on a voyage from Singapore and China.

National Maritime Authority of Argentina confirmed that firefighters were deployed to combat the fire, the cause of which is not yet known.

It has since been reported that the fire was duly extinguished and the situation now under control. All crew and other vessels in the vicinity are reported to be safe, while any damage to MAERSK LAVRAS or cargo onboard has yet to be assessed.
