Incident: Loss of engine power & grounding

We have learned of an incident involving the vessel “CDRY BLUE”, an Italy flag, 2010 built, 5,629gt General Cargo Ship, which suffered loss of engine power, resulting in running aground south of Sant Antioco, during a voyage from Cagliari, Italy, to Alicante, Spain.

It is reported that the Vessel had experienced heavy weather on high seas and attempted to seek shelter at first convenient anchorage. The Italian Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter and salvage team in response to a request for urgent assistance and all crew were safely evacuated. Maritime authorities have opened an incident investigation file and, when the weather is more stable, surveyors and salvage team with divers will attend onboard, to investigate the cause of the incident and extent of damages incurred.
